“Clients may need help getting to the toilet, being given a drink, or being repositioned in bed. Sometimes something falls to the floor and they need someone to pick it up. Other times they need help calling their family. And then there are health-related issues — nausea, vomiting, pain, shortness of breath, and many other symptoms. And there are also those moments when a client feels that the end of life is approaching and doesn’t want to be alone,” says Veronika Hovorková, Head of Health Care at Sue Ryder.
But the 20-year-old call-bell system was no longer reliably transmitting these vital signals. It looked more like a telephone switchboard from the last century — everything rang everywhere, and no one knew who would answer. Thanks to you, things will soon be very different.
You donated CZK 709,000 for the new call-bell system and its first five years of operation.
After a careful selection process, the winner was HelpLivi — a modern, smart emergency call system that will significantly improve client safety and support the work of the Sue Ryder care team. Organizations such as Hagibor have had excellent experience with it.
Thanks to its connection with mobile devices, a web application, and the “Smart Organization” system, it will automatically record care tasks without the care team having to think about it. The system is also portable should we ever need to move out of the Michelský dvůr premises in the future.
More advantages?
It runs on standard Android devices, is not tied to a specific supplier, works even during power outages, and offers easy administration as well as secure operation.
5 years of system operation = CZK 400,000 incl. VAT
“We began work on replacing the call-bell system at Sue Ryder in August 2025. By September, all the necessary electrical wiring had been completed, and we are now planning the installation dates for the hardware components and the transition to the new system. The installation will take approximately 14 days, during which both the old and the new systems will run in parallel to ensure uninterrupted care. The full transition to the new system will be completed by the end of 2025,” confirms Petr Havelík, Facilities Manager at Sue Ryder.
You donated CZK 211,600 for palliative care.
The call-bell system wasn’t the only goal of your support. In the final phase, your generosity also turned toward palliative care. Since 2018, palliative care has been an integral part of the services provided at Sue Ryder. In 2024, 92% of Sue Ryder’s clients spent their final days right here — in the nursing home that had become their second home. With dignity, in peace, and with the care team and their loved ones at their side.
Spring Campaign in Numbers
In total, the Spring Campaign reached CZK 920,600.
You made all of this possible in the spring of 2025. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you, on behalf of every client at Sue Ryder. And the next time someone rings for help at the Sue Ryder Home, it will ring thanks to you.
