Since 1998, the Czech non-profit organization Sue Ryder has been supporting older people, their families, and informal caregivers. We visit seniors in their homes when they need help with everyday tasks. We are with them when their strength fades. And we are with them even when the end of life approaches — with kindness, dignity, and presence until the very last moment.
Every day, we speak with people who care for their ageing loved ones and feel overwhelmed. Every day, we are on the phone, in emails, and out in the field. Every day, we work to make care for older people in the Czech Republic better — not only today, but ten years from now.
Here’s exactly what we do:
• We provide free counselling for seniors and their families across the Czech Republic (by phone, email, and in person).
• We operate the online portal www.neztratitsevestari.cz, offering advice and support for older people and caregivers (including live chat).
• We offer personal assistance – daily in-home support that helps seniors stay in their own environment for as long as possible.
• We care for older people in the Sue Ryder Nursing Home, with an emphasis on dignity, safety, and high-quality care — including end-of-life and palliative care.
• We advance the entire system of senior care in the Czech Republic: introducing palliative approaches, coordinated services, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• We teach students, provide internships, and educate informal caregivers.
• We have inspired and trained more than 65 other organizations.
• We share our knowledge and experience with professionals and representatives from all 14 regions of the Czech Republic.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have already helped more than 45,890 seniors.
