In the Czech Republic, 78% of seniors wish to spend their final days at home. Increasingly, this wish is becoming a reality, thanks to family support and in-home social services. However, this positive trend places considerable demands on those providing care. "Sue Ryder's personal assistants are more frequently encountering palliative care situations and client passings. Often, they are the first to notice when something has changed with a client," says Marie Matláková, who leads the team. To support these dedicated caregivers, Sue Ryder developed the accredited course "Identifying and Addressing Palliative Needs in Field Social Services for Elderly Clients." This program is designed to empower our personal assistants and, in the future, other organisations that care for seniors at home. Please consider donating to support the education and guidance of those who care for seniors at home.
